The Alpha CourseAlpha

What is Alpha?

The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It’s relaxed, low key, friendly and fun. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. And it’s supported by all the main Christian churches. Launched over 30 years ago, there are now over 34,000 courses running in 163 countries.

What’s involved?

The Alpha course looks at a series of topics, such as ‘Who is Jesus?’, ‘How can I develop a relationship with God?’, ‘Why pray?’ etc. After some good food and a short talk, we divide into small groups for a time of discussion with those with whom we have eaten.

The next course (later this year) will meet in the Hop Vine pub, Burscough.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone, especially:

  • Those wanting to investigate Christianity
  • New Christians
  • Newcomers to church
  • Those who want to brush up on the basics

No question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.
