Monthly Prayer Letter

This is the Prayer Letter for July / August.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

Pray for Sarah Holman as she finishes her youth and children’s work at St John’s in July. Sarah will be pursuing her writing activity; pray that the Lord will prosper her in her chosen career and continue to use her to His glory in a different way. Ask Him to bless her also in her forthcoming marriage. Thank God for her wonderful ministry to our young people throughout her time at St John’s.

Monday

Please pray for Christine Spencer as she begins her full time post as youth and children’s worker in mid August. May she know the presence and prompting of the Lord’s Holy Spirit; ask Him to take away any anxiety she might be feeling as she prepares to take over from Sarah, and pray that, with the Lord’s help and guidance, the transition will be smooth. Pray for Joanna and the many volunteer helpers without whom our youth work would be unable to function - may they all have a good rest this summer. Pray for increase in numbers and faith for the young ones as they learn to trust Jesus.

Tuesday

Pray for all young people as they await their exam results – a very anxious time for them. Many children will be changing schools and this too can be a challenging and uncertain prospect for them. Pray that the Lord will encourage all to trust Him in all their fears for the future and to thank Him that He is always with us whenever we turn to Him. Pray for patience and understanding for parents.

Wednesday

Thank God for all the volunteers whose ministry keeps our churchyard and buildings looking so cared for. This is ongoing work done by faithful and willing servants, and ensures that our church and surrounds are pleasant places to be. Pray for more servant hearts so that the work is made easier for all with the burden shared.

Thursday

There will be missions to Paraguay and Belarus this summer. Thank God for all those called to minister to communities in far away lands where there is great need. Pray for safe travel and that any last minute difficulties will be sorted out. Thank God for those who go and those who support with time, contributions and finance. Pray for great blessings and powerful witness to the love of God.

Friday

The Alpha course will be starting at the Hop Vine in September. Thank God for this venue and pray for a great outpouring of His Spirit as people gather there. Pray for Richard and other helpers as they prepare for this outreach ministry and pray that we, as God’s people in Burscough, will be faithful in prayer for all seekers. Ask the Lord to increase the ministry of prayer in our church, for without prayer we can do nothing.

Saturday

Pray for anyone known to you who is anxious about the future because of health issues, employment worries or family problems. These are difficult days financially; pray for those who may be unable to take a holiday. Ask the Lord to uphold and strengthen all those with broken or heavy hearts and ask Him to place in your path someone to whom you may be able to offer help or comfort.
