Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for June.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

On Friday 10th June, there will be a social evening at the vicarage for people who have recently made contact with our church. Pray that this will be a relaxing and pleasant occasion, where everyone will feel at ease, and pray for Neil and Margaret as they host the event. Pray for openness and warmth, and for relationships to be established.

Monday

Neil is leading a “Lead your church into growth” seminar in York from 12th-16th June, and about 60 clergy are expected to attend. This is such important work, helping other churches to stimulate their ministries so that they can gather in a harvest for the Lord. Pray for Neil as he ministers; pray that the Holy Spirit will be with him, giving him the words and warmth and enthusiasm to inspire these church leaders.

Tuesday

There will be another “Saturday at Six” service on 11th June. Pray for all who will minister and all who will come, that Jesus, by His Spirit, will be moving among us. Pray especially for the young people, that this format will find favour with them, and encourage true worship of God.

Wednesday

On the 18th June there is to be a pastoral prayer away day for anyone wishing to learn more about intercessory prayer and praying alongside people. Pray that there will be lots of interest in this form of mission work. Pray for those who will lead, and ask for the Holy Spirit’s presence to encourage and inspire in this vital work of caring for others. Thank God for all who are part of St John’s pastoral team.

Thursday

The celebration for Crabtree Mission’s centenary takes place on 23rd- 26th June with many special events planned. Pray that all the preparations will go smoothly and that everything brought before Him will be blessed by our Lord. Pray for good outreach through these celebrations. Thank God for the continuing ministry from this faithful fellowship, and ask Him to bless those who strive to make it endure.

Friday

Our parish picnic at Haigh Hall is scheduled for 12th June. Pray that this will be a fun filled day for everyone. Pray that new friendships will blossom, especially for any new recruits who join us. Pray that the worship will be free and unfettered, and a strong witness to all.

Saturday

Pray for Brian as he goes for re-licensing at the cathedral on 16th June. Thank God for him and the work he does, especially for his pastoral ministry and his ministry to the bereaved. Ask the Lord to bless him, and pray for his health. Remember too his faithful leading of the Monday prayer group over many years, and thank Him for blessings received through this ministry.
