Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for September.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

Thank God for His wonderful leading and provision for the summer projects at Merseyfest, Belarus and Paraguay. Praise Him that His promises assure us that His Holy Spirit will continue to work in the lives of those whom our faithful doers of the word have touched: “for He who promised is faithful and He will do it”. Thank God for the way His Holy Spirit has moved the hearts of people here to give so generously, and for the enormous blessing everyone has received from all this work.

Monday

Pray for our young people, particularly those who have been involved in Merseyfest and have felt God’s Holy Spirit at work in them and have come back excited and eager for our Lord; pray that they will receive encouragement at home and from us, and that, as they plunge again into school life and the atmosphere of their unbelieving friends, their faith will continue to grow and they will be able to stand.

Tuesday

A new Christian Basics course begins on 29th September. Thank God for the many people who have come to faith through past years’ courses. Pray for all leaders and helpers and a warm comfortable, inclusive welcome to those who will come. Ask the Lord to reveal someone you could invite.

Wednesday

The new Tesco store opens on 22nd September, bringing many more people into the environs of our church. Ask the Lord to help us to use this opportunity to witness to His love and saving power. Ask Him what you can do to be able to reach out and touch someone, perhaps with just a smile, and make a new friend. Pray that people will be inclined to come in for a coffee and a chat. Pray for the shoppers’ service on 29th September that people will respond to this unique opportunity to worship midweek.

Thursday

An M1 (membership) course takes place on 2nd October for young people. This is a new venture for St John’s: pray for the leaders that they will pitch it just right for them, and pray that they will respond positively, realising the benefits of belonging to a vibrant Christian community where they have a real part to play.

Friday

On the 7th October there will be 3 school harvest services. Pray for receptive hearts, that all will feel truly thankful for God’s provision and generosity to us in the face of so much suffering in the world. Ask for God’s Holy Spirit to be at His work, changing hearts and opening up ears and eyes to the needs of our world. It is hard to get and keep the attention of so many youg people when they are all together, so pray for our leaders.

Saturday

We have 2 Saturday @ 6 services coming up on 17th September and 15th October. Pray that this service will continue to meet peoples’ needs and pray for growth. Thank God that our leaders are so willing to do more and more to try to reach out to our community. Pray for their health and strength and that they and their families will be surrounded by ours and God’s, love, care and protection.
