This is the Prayer Letter for February. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Please continue to pray for the Pints of View meetings at the Bull & Dog on Mondays. Pray that people will start to form warm friendships and will feel comfortable with one another. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be active in changing their hearts through the ministry of the clergy and helpers; pray that each one will begin to get to know Jesus.
Monday
John Littlewood, retired vicar, will be spending some time with us this month. Pray for him as he speaks to us and worships with us; he is going to be observing us as a church and will be advising us of his impressions at a later date. Ask the Lord to grant him discernment and pray that we will learn something about ourselves that will help us in the future, to serve the Lord with humility and grace, as He requires.
Tuesday
The JC’s will be spending a weekend away in the Lakes with Barry Johnson from 24th to 26th February. Pray that this will be a really special time for them, that friendships and faith will deepen and they will open their hearts to Jesus. Pray for Barry and the other leaders as they spend time with our youngsters. Pray for good fun.
Wednesday
Pray for Neil as he continues his sabbatical; pray that he will feel refreshed and eager to do the Lord’s work as he returns to us on 26th February. Thank God for him and his enthusiasm, which is so inspiring. Ask for God’s blessing on him and his family.
Thursday
Pray for Simon and Clare and their family, as Simon takes hold of the reins while Neil is away. Pray that this time will be really useful for him for the future, and that the Lord will be close to him and Clare, giving them confidence and equipping them for the task. Thank God for the commitment, blessings and gifts that they have brought to St John’s.
Friday
As we continue our Giving in Grace series, pray that there will be a positive response in our hearts; that we will become more aware day by day, what God has done for us, and that we will as a result, become inclined to generosity. Ask the Lord to help us all to grow our love and knowledge of Him, so that we can serve Him in Spirit and Truth, submitting to Him in all things.
Saturday
Pray for our church, that the Spirit of God will lead us forward in 2006; that we will keep focused on Jesus as we go; that we will allow Him to strengthen us in His service, in the sure knowledge that He is the way, the truth and the life.
