This is the Prayer Letter for June. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
There is to be a graveyard tidy day on 10th June. Let’s pray for many willing hands to help keep St John’s in good order. Thank God for the people who lovingly give their time on a regular basis to this particular ministry, so that the environs of our church are such a pleasure to see. These people are serving faithfully in the background and deserve our thanks and praise.
Monday
The Deanery Synod meets on 6th June to discuss re ordering of the parishes because of future clergy shortages. This is an important meeting with implications for all parishes. Ask the Lord for wisdom, sensitivity and patience for all discussions on this matter, that all will be of one heart and mind, seeking to do the Lord’s will in connecting people to Jesus.
Tuesday
Neil will be taking part in a Leading Your Church into Growth conference in London on 12th-15th June. Ask the Lord to bless him in his enthusiasm for this important work. Pray that ears and hearts will be open to learning how to reach out in such a way that people will readily respond. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s empowering for Neil and the others as they seek to encourage and enthuse their colleagues in bringing the lost to God.
Wednesday
There will be a ministry fair after the services on 18th June, encouraging folks to get involved in the pastoral work of the church. This is a huge area for outreach to show the love of Jesus. Please pray that more people will want to become part of the teams already in place. Ask the Lord to lay this work on the hearts of His people.
Thursday
The parish picnic will take place on 11th June at Rufford Old Hall. Pray for a really special time of freedom and fun and that the Lord will bless each one as we relax together in Christian fellowship.
Friday
Pray for the staff team as they take time out for a quiet day on 26th June. Ask the Lord to bathe them in His peace and refresh them by His Spirit so that they may see clearly His purposes for them and for the ongoing work at St John’s. Thank God for their dedication and love.
Saturday
A team will be meeting on 24th June to plan for this year’s trip to Belarus. Ask the Lord to bless them in the work being undertaken for those in need; there are bound to be problems along the way, but ask the Lord for perseverance and patience for them. Thank Him for tender and generous hearts and ask Him to encourage these workers as they seek to be a blessing.
