This is the Prayer Letter for July / August. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Please pray for the Parish Advisory Team as they spend a couple of days at Parcevall Hall in July to think and pray and plan about the way forward for St John’s. Pray that the Holy Spirit will surround them and fill them, helping them to trust in the Lord for our future needs and witness. This is important work and needs our ongoing prayer that what is planned will be in His will, so that we can be assured that He will bless it. Thank God for willing hands and hearts.
Monday
Pray for Barry Johnson as he takes the Founders Day service at St John’s on 14th July. Ask the Lord to equip him with just the right message to reach out to these teenagers who have so many distractions and temptations to lead them astray. Pray for Priory staff, that they too will be moved and encouraged by God’s Spirit.
Tuesday
The summer season is upon us once again, and this year we are featuring Wallace & Grommit. Pray for all who will minister during this time, that the Lord by His Spirit, will give out a good message using these colourful characters, not just for the children, but all of us. Ask the Lord to help us to become like little children as we look to deepen our faith.
Wednesday
About 55 adults and children will be going off to New Wine on 22nd July. Pray that this will be a great time of blessing for all, and that really lovely things will happen through the power of the Holy Spirit. Some of our adults and teenagers will be helping to minister; please pray that the Lord will give them encouragement in their work for Him, and that, as a result, their own faith will be strengthened. Pray for plenty of fun and laughter.
Thursday
Some of our people will be setting off in mission to Paraguay and Belarus over the summer months. Keep them in prayer, lifting them regularly to the Lord for safety and blessing as they serve Him in foreign lands. Ask Him to be with them in times of difficulty and times of joy. Pray for unity of spirit for all parties, so that the love of God may abound and be manifest in them, witnessing to any who live without Christ.
Friday
Continue to thank God for the way He has moved the hearts of His people at St John’s, so that Sarah is able to help with the growing ministry to young people. Pray for Joanna and Sarah as the plan over the summer months in readiness for a new year in September. Thank God for their willingness to serve and ask Him to guide them in all that they do, keeping them faithful in prayer on behalf of the youngsters. Thank Him for their love and commitment to this demanding work.
Saturday
Continue to pray for Duncan and Anne and their team as they expand their church in Skelmersdale. Pray for their “Meat not Milk” series to draw people into a closer walk with God; pray also for continued growth in cell groups. They will have an “Alternative Sports Day” at Hillside School on 16th July; ask the Lord to bless this event and strengthen links with the community. Pray also for Sue and Jer as they begin their ministry at Christ Church Aughton. Pray for prayerful support for them within that church.
