This is the Prayer Letter for July / August. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Pray earnestly for the Slelmersdale Mission, 17-20th July, that new people will see Jesus and come to know Him. Pray for St Paul’s, that they will be enthusiastic for mission and that our links with them will be good and strong and focused on Jesus. Pray for the 24-7 team that they will be effective in reaching out to the children of skelmersdale with the love of our Lord. Ask the Lord to bless all the activities and go before us to show the way.
Monday
Some of the newer basics groups are doing M2 (maturity) and M3 (Ministry) courses during July. Pray that these new Christians will be encouraged and stimulated to continue in their new life with Christ, eager to cultivate those habits that bring a closer walk with Him and to using their gifts to glorify Him. Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue a good work in them, opening their hearts and minds to all the blessings that are ours in Jesus.
Tuesday
Continue to pray foe all the young peoples’ groups and their leaders. Pray particularly for a new male leader for GTI’s, that the Lord will honour this request. Pray for the integration of Y6 children into JC’s and that with love and patience, the disruptive element might be channelled into enthusiastic activity for Jesus. Pray that drama group will be able to produce something that will be really stimulating for the children, revealing God to them, and giving a clear Christian message. Thank God for these leaders, for their dedication to these young ones; this is work that can often seem an uphill struggle, especially with children unused to discipline. Ask the Lord to equip them and encourage them.
Wednesday
Pray for all the preparations for the Chile Mission, that though there will be quite hectic activity as the time approaches, the Lord will be sovereign and His glorification will be paramount. Ask the Lord to richly bless the time our two feelowships spend together, giving great joy in joint working, worship and fellowship. Pray that the visit will overflow with love and be a powerful witness to the Lord’s goodness.
Thursday
Pray for the New Wine Festival July 26- August1, that this will be a wonderful blessing to the many who attend. Pray for Jesus to come in power by His Spirit to touch and surprise people with His love, peace and compassion. Pray for the 27 people from our fellowship, that their faith will be moved on and strengthened, and pray that the five who are going to be working and leading children will know the equipping and blessing of the Lord as they minister. Ask the Holy Spirit to bless all those who will be leading or teaching, so that good things will follow.
Friday
Pray for St John’s whilst our clergy and other leaders are ministering in Chile. Pray especially for Ian Chisholm as he comes to lead us; thank God for him and pray that the time he spends with us will be mutually beneficial. Pray that our fellowship will support Ian and encourage him in every way, ministering to him even as he ministers to us.
Saturday
Thank God for answered prayer, that the church plant in Skelmersdale can now officially move ahead. This is excellent news for Duncan and Anne, who can now plan their future in the diocese with enthusiasm and confidence, and for those who are committed to helping them to bring the love of Jesus to that area. Pray that this project is going to be a tremendous work for our Lord. New homes for the workers are now a priority; commit this to the Lord, that there will be no hindrance in the preparations, and ask God to even now to be preparing those whom He wishes to come to Him. Thank Him for all He has done and will do, in and through His servants and ask Him to keep us faithful in prayer for those whose lifework is the gospel.
