This is the Prayer Letter for January. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
There is to be a meeting on 13th January for anyone who might be interested in going to Belarus or Paraguay in the summer. Pray that, as in previous years, there will be a good response from the people at St John’s for this mission outreach. Pray that we will be able to do even more to show the love of Christ in action, and thank God especially for those who choose to go to serve in foreign lands.
Monday
Pray for Neil as he takes time out on 15th-17th Jan at Parcevall Hall to read and pray about the year ahead for St John’s. Pray that this might be a peaceful and rewarding time for him, allowing him to get closer to God and be sure about His leading. Pray for Neil’s health and ask the Lord to bless his home and his family; we need to keep our leaders constantly under prayer.
Tuesday
There is to be a meeting on 9th January for the various groups with an interest the School Lane development (church, school, bowling club, scouts). Pray for cooperation and enthusiasm to move forward the plans to purchase the land bordering the church and school, so that the whole parish may reap the benefit in future years. Pray that all parties will have altruistic motives, and will be able to trustfully work together to achieve a happy outcome.
Wednesday
The staff team will be having a quiet day on 29th Jan. This has been of great benefit to them in the past; pray that each one will be able to be detached from their normal routine and spend some quiet time with our Lord in prayer and contemplation, waiting on Him. Our leaders work so hard serving God and us – they need this “boat” time just as the Lord did. Thank God for them and all the work they do on our behalf. Pray that the Lord will, by His Holy Spirit, bless them as they turn to Him.
Thursday
Shoulder to Shoulder is having a breakfast meeting on 27th Jan; New Start, New Year. Pray for the group, that they will continue to bring new men into fellowship and a closer walk with God. Pray that they may encourage one another in faith and service and prayer, growing together and sharing Godly time together. Pray that there will be a good take-up for the evangelistic service with Eric Delve at Lancaster on 7th Feb, and pray for Al as he leads the group, that the Lord will equip him and bless him.
Friday
Thank God for the wonderful response to our Christmas services; also the news that more people are coming to church. Pray that we may be ever vigilant to welcome new visitors so that they feel the warmth of our fellowship. Pray that we all may somehow encourage others to join us in worship throughout the year, not just at Christmas. Tesco is a great mission field for us.
Saturday
Jenny is having a training day for people on the coffee rotas on 26th Jan. These people are front line troops for our Lord though they may think they are just making tea and coffee! Pray for a really good meeting where everyone will become more aware of how the Lord can use them in His service and pray for Jenny as she encourages and leads, teaches and inspires, that she also may be lead by the Holy Spirit.
