This is the Prayer Letter for February. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Pray for the confirmation classes now ongoing. There are 13 children (2 non church) with 5 leaders on a 10 week course looking at Jesus and His life and what it means to be a young Christian in today’s society. These youngsters really need our prayers. Pray that they will get to know Jesus really well, and pray for their homes; pray that their families will give them support and encouragement in their Christian walk. Ask for the input of the Holy Spirit for those who teach and thank God for their commitment.
Monday
On the 11th February, Barry Johnson will be leading a family Guest service. Pray for him as he leads, for the young people who assist in any way, and for our youth band as they lead the worship. Pray for all parents who come, that they will be attracted and drawn by the warmth of Christian fellowship as we welcome them into our midst.
Tuesday
16 members of JC’s and their helpers will be spending time at Stottesdon for a weekend of activity on 2nd February. Thank God for those who are so willing to give their time and pray that the fellowship and loving care they extend to our children will nurture their young faiths and give them confidence. Pray that friendship bonds will be strengthened and for lots of fun. Pray also for their safety.
Wednesday
Eileen Heaney will be speaking at Oaks church on 18th February. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide her and pray that her special delivery will reach out to the people at Oaks. Thank God for her particular gifts in speaking and ask Him to bless her and encourage her in her ministry. Pray also for the meeting on 20th February for greater church unity and the growth of God’s kingdom in Skelmersdale. This is tough territory; ask the Lord to bless Duncan and his team in their work for Him.
Thursday
Doug Horley and his team will be at St John’s on Friday 2nd March for a praise party. Pray for the outreach to all the families and children. His is a very active special ministry for kids of all ages. Thank God for this ministry and pray that it will be effective. Pray for a good response and a happy fun-filled event.
Friday
Our aged 16+ group PUSH (pray until something happens) is going to St Andrews Coniston for the weekend 23rd February, which will incorporate both outdoor pursuits and looking at Old Testament stories. Pray for growth in faith and knowledge for these young people on the threshold of adult life and that what they are learning will help to equip them as they go through good and difficult times. Ask the Lord, by His Holy Spirit, to give them insight and understanding as they hear and read His holy word.
Saturday
Youth Work Some leaders have retired, some have gone off to university and new leaders are needed urgently as a result. Please pray that more helpers will come for this vital work so that we can fulfil our legal obligations and continue to provide a safe, secure environment in which our children can grow in fellowship together, learning to trust Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
