Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for April.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

Remember St John’s members who are unable to join us in worship. Over the next couple of weeks they will be receiving home communions for Easter; pray that they will be brought closer to Jesus at this special time and that they will know they are in our thoughts and prayers. They must often feel so very cut off from church life but pray that the Holy Spirit will always keep them in touch with Jesus.

Monday

Pray for all the Easter services and the “Walk the Way of the Cross” display in St John’s during Holy Week. Pray that hearts will be newly touched by the realisation of what Jesus has done for us. It is good to be reminded at this time of year that our God became human and willingly suffered to save us; pray that belief will be powerfully reinforced in our hearts by the Holy Spirit’s work through His servants. Pray especially for new believers celebrating their first Easter that their faith will be deepened as they contemplate the cross. Pray too for Easter visitors that the Easter message will find a place in their hearts and surprise them.

Tuesday

Pray for the visit of the Belarussion children and their helpers. These children always wake us up to the world’s suffering with their undernourished bodies and grey faces. Pray for the 3 children who haven’t been allowed to come because they are wheelchair bound – pray that there may yet be a change of heart. How privileged we are to be able to help them by caring for them, giving them good food and sharing activities with them. Pray for healing and strengthening of their bodies and an infusion of hope as they live amongst us for a short time and pray that our love and compassion will go with them and stay with them when they return. Thank God for the blessings they bring to us as we look on their humility. Pray that there will be enough people to help.

Wednesday

Pray for Terry and Pancha Barrett as they continue their work at the new chapel at Pitriel in the Andes in Chile. Pray that many teachers will go out from there into the towns and villages, taking the good news of Jesus. Ask the Lord to bless Terry and Pancha and this important work of training and equipping, and pray that we may be able to continue to provide finance to assist them in their labour for the Lord.

Thursday

The confirmation service will take place on 22nd April. Pray for the children as they publicly declare their faith. Pray too for their homes and families and that their ongoing commitment to Jesus will be encouraged by the parents. Thank God for these young converts and pray that the Lord will use them in a wonderful way. Pray also for the adults who have just completed the basics course, that they also may feel ready to take this step of commitment. Thank God that this group is progressing well.

Friday

The AGM will be held on 24th April and new members will be appointed to the PCC. Pray for all people called to serve in this way and thank God for them. Pray that our fellowship will take a lively interest in what is going on and praise God for His extraordinary blessings and answers to prayers over many years. Pray that we will hear of new work to be done in His name and that more and more people will be willing to go for Him.

Saturday

Joanna is leading a families’ weekend at Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales this month. There will be 15 families (mums, dads and children) spending time together for leisure and spiritual activities. Ask the Lord to give a tremendous blessing to this weekend, drawing families together in deep Christian fellowship and understanding. Pray for a powerful input of the Holy Spirit as they worship and play.
