Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for May.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

Pray for Pastor Sergei and his wife Tanya who visited us for a week in April. Thank God for this lovely young couple and ask Him to bless their ministry in Borisov. Thank God for the blessings they brought to us with their ministry of song; pray that their church will continue to flourish in that harsh landscape and that many will come to Jesus through their ministry. Pray that we may be able to continue to give practical, loving help to those in need in Belarus.

Monday

On the 9th May the Deanery Synod is meeting to discuss the healing ministry within our churches and Jenny Cosslett will be speaking there. Pray for her as she explains her passion for this ministry and encourages others to introduce healing services into their churches. Pray that there will be a desire to give this ministry the importance that our lord gave to it as He went about among us. Pray for healing within our churches and in our nation.

Tuesday

Continue to pray for our church schools, Lordsgate and St John’s, and particularly for the influence of our regular assemblies on staff and children. Thank God that Mrs merry and Mrs Cartwright are enthusiastic about the church having this input, and pray for even more cooperation over the months and years. Pray that all will feel the touch of God’s Holy Spirit as they listen and take part in our ministry, and pray for Joanna, Sarah, Neil and Simon, and any other helpers, asking God to give them inspirational words of life.

Wednesday

The first PCC meeting of the new financial year will take place at Crabtree Mission on 22nd May. This is an important meeting when new members take their place for the first time, and new deputy wardens are elected. Pray for these servants, that this meeting with Holy Communion will be a blessed introduction for them as leaders at St John’s. Pray that they will undertake to do their duties with true diligence and reverence, always looking to the Lord for wisdom.

Thursday

Pray for the Festival of Four Feasts. Pray for great fellowship with friends and families, and that seeds will be sown. Pray for Robin and all who have any part to play in the organisation of this weekend, and pray for the Holy Spirit’s presence throughout as we meet together. Ask the Lord to inspire us and give us courage to reach out to friends and neighbours; some of us need encouragement in this ministry, so pray hard!

Friday

Pray for Neil and Robin Gamble as they meet together on the 9th May to plan the Leading Your Church into Growth series for clergy. This is such an important ministry, encouraging and helping leaders to reach out to their communities with the love of Jesus. Jesus gave this ministry to all of us; pray that we, as well as those whom Neil and Robin are targeting, will respond wholeheartedly to His call.

Saturday

After the wonderful service of confirmation on 22nd March, continue to pray for the children and adults who were confirmed. Pray that their new lives in Christ will bear much fruit and enable them to serve Him; pray for the Holy Spirit to do His work in their hearts and minds and lives. Thank God for Bishop David and his very special, personal ministry.
