Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for October.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

Pray for our Harvest services in mid October when we are focussing on our mission to Zambia and the Isubilo project to help AIDS victims. Pray that we will be enthusiastic supporters of this mission; we know that Jesus wants us to care for the poor and afflicted, especially the children. Pray that our hearts will be fully opened to offer His love and compassion and that the Holy Spirit will move us to prayerful generosity as we consider the plight of the Zambian widows and orphans.

Monday

Pray for the new Christian Basics course starting on 1st October. Pray for all who have been invited to find out more about Jesus will indeed come and not be put off by other influences. Pray for Simon and all helpers, that they will prayerfully prepare themselves so that they will be Spirit led as they meet with these new seekers. Ask the Lord to open up the hearts and minds of those He has chosen, so that the message of love and salvation can take root.

Tuesday

Our Youth groups (Frogs and PUSH aged 14+) are having a quiet day at Bleasedale on 28th October with Joanna and Sarah. They will be looking at Bible passages and then spending some time in a remote chapel there. Pray that this day will be a wonderful blessing to them, drawing them ever nearer to Jesus, and that they will come away longing to go deeper with Him.

Wednesday

Wendy Cosslett is hoping to start a new group for the Mums who come to Wednesday’s 0-5 meetings. She is going to introduce God’s word and Jesus’ love into the lives of these young women. Pray for Wendy and thank God for this initiative; there has been quite a good response from the mums. Ask the Holy Spirit to empower Wendy with just what she needs to reach out to these young mothers because there is nothing more important for the children.

Thursday

Pray for the Harvest tea for the senior citizens on 14th October. Some of our young people from the arts group will be helping to entertain them; thank God for them and all who work so hard to make this yearly event such a pleasure for the elderly members of our parish. Everyone is invited to come to the 6pm service of Harvest Praise afterwards; pray that the Lord by His Holy Spirit will touch them all and make known His presence.

Friday

Joanna and Sarah have been asked to talk to the primary school children over a period of weeks, to answer questions on some of the more difficult issues that they have concerning God and faith. Ask for wisdom and discernment for them and pray the Holy Spirit will enable them. Thank God that this request has come and that we continue to to have close contact with the schools. Also pray for Sarah and Simon as they address Priory School on the AIDS project for harvest. Pray that these young hearts will be moved to support the work in Zambia, and thank God for the opportunity to witness at Priory.

Saturday

St John’s staff members are having a quiet day on 15th October to prayerfully consider and reflect on the church’s work and mission. Ask the Lord to make known His presence and to encourage each one as they turn to Him to listen and pray. We are so blessed with our leaders; pray that they will be assured of our love and support as we uphold them in prayer.
