This is the Prayer Letter for November. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Please continue to pray for our church during the interregnum. There is so much work to do. Pray particularly for Simon and Brian, Denise and Mark and other members of the Parish Advisory team, the PCC members, and all who help to lead and preach; the church would not be able to function without them standing in the gap. Pray that the Lord will continue to be our guide and that He will live in each one of us.
Monday
Pray for the new basics course, those who lead and the seekers. This is quite a small group but they are all experiencing the benefits of fellowship. Week 6 on Nov 12th is about commitment, so pray that the Holy Spirit will enfold them and lead them into a new life with Jesus so that we can all rejoice with them and welcome them into the wider fellowship at St John’s. These people are our home mission; let’s powerfully uphold them to the Lord.
Tuesday
23 people will be visiting Parcevall Hall on 9th – 11th November for a Holy Spirit weekend, a wonderful opportunity to spend time together and concentrate on Him. Ask the Lord to bless them with His Holy Spirit’s presence and lead them into a closer walk with Him. Pray for good, loving fellowship and a deeper response to His way and holiness of life, so that each one may come back built up in holy faith and eager to serve.
Wednesday
Elaine Jones is in the middle of her first term of preparation for the ministry. Pray for Elaine and her family as they go on this important journey. May we encourage her as she continues to lead and preach occasionally and pray that her new life will be deeply satisfying and a source of great joy. Thank God for her and others who have chosen or are perhaps considering taking up the life of service with God. Pray for Richard and Helen and their family who are also in training for a life of ministry.
Thursday
Our youth groups will be leading the evening service on 25th November. Let’s uphold them in prayer and thank God for their witness and enthusiasm. Pray that our fellowship will strongly support and encourage them and that they will continue to be drawn by Jesus, devoted to doing His will. Thank God for all who lead these young people, for their dedication and their love; we also need to personally thank them for the work they do in this very demanding field.
Friday
Give thanks for the tremendous response to the harvest Appeal for the Isubilo Project. Pray now that all will be done according to the will of God and pray particularly for Andy Patching who is to oversee the whole project in Zambia. His is a difficult task, demanding much discernment and courage. Ask the Lord to richly bless him and his colleagues, giving them wisdom from above in the planning and execution of the task.
Saturday
This month, the core group comprising Bishop James, the Archdeacon and others will start the interview and selection process for our new vicar. Pray for them as they listen to the candidates, and ask the Lord to guide them so that His choice will prevail. Keep faithful in prayer on this issue; let’s pray our new man in.
Keep on praying for Neil as he presses on with his Liverpool mission. Thank God for progress made, particularly the 2 committed Christians who have decided to join the new church; pray that this small new fellowship will be full of love.
