Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for September.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

A new Christian basics course is planned to start on 29th September and there are lots of names on the list of potential candidates. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be prompting people to find out more about Jesus, who He is and why He is the answer. Ask the Lord to show you people who would benefit from the course and then pray about approaching them.

Monday

Another M3 (ministry) course will take place on 10th, 17th,and 24th September, and an M2 (maturity) course on 24th September. There will also be an “M2 extra” course on 30th September. Pray that each of these courses will really move people along in their Christian lives, refreshing and enthusing us in our service for the Lord. Pray that those established members of our church, who have so far felt disinclined to sample these courses, will be moved to take part. Pray that the Lord will equip all who teach and lead in this vital area of our church ministry.

Tuesday

The “Shoulder to Shoulder” group meet up again on 27th September. Pray for all the men belonging to this group, that this ministry is encouraging them, building up their faith and deepening friendships. Pray for other men’s groups such as the men’s fellowship and the footballers, that good friendships will lead to spiritual enquiry. Pray that those involved will be able to reach out to others in their group with Christ’s love and fellowship.

Wednesday

Continue to pray for the church plant in Skelmersdale, that the Lord will richly bless this project. Pray particularly for the housing needs of the team, that suitable accommodation will be forthcoming, so that those whom the Lord is seeking will be able to feel welcome and comfortable. Pray for the building of a good strong team to send out into that area and ask the Lord to prepare the way for them.

Thursday

Pray for Duncan’s replacement and ask the Lord to continue to bless us in this as He has done in the past. Ask that the person who will come will be enthusiastic and willing to keep on learning but above all ask for someone with a real heart for God. The Lord already knows who will come, so pray that He is even now preparing his servant for ministry. Pray that this will be a mutually beneficial appointment with great blessings all round, and pray for Neil as he prepares to nurture and train and take on the huge commitment that is necessary. Ask the Lord to be with him, keeping him well and surrounding him with loving support from the fellowship.

Friday

Housegroups will be meeting again this month. Pray for all leaders and members, that we will all continue to grow in faith and fellowship, encouraging one another. Pray for the housegroup pastors, that this arrangement will prove a success and really benefit the groups. Pray particularly for the new housegroups, that they will feel the loving closeness of being part of a smaller group within the church, and that their faith and knowledge will be enhanced and their love for Jesus and his teachings will be deepened.

Saturday

Give thanks for all the opportunities and experiences which have arisen throughout the summer which have enabled our young people to find out more about Jesus and to experience His love first hand – Chile, New Wine, Festival Manchester. Pray that all the leaders will return rested and enthused to inspire our young ones to have a close relationship with Jesus. Pray for the Lord’s guidance for the committee and leaders as they plan a weekend away in October and pray for renewed commitment, energy, and enthusiasm for all members of the drama group as their production date draws near. Pray that their skills and talents may encourage others to get to know Jesus.
