Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for December.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

Please continue to pray for the recent basics course members who are now meeting at Al & Anne’s house. Give thanks for the 5 people who have already made a commitment to follow Jesus, and pray for all of them as they learn about discipleship. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s leading for Al, Anne and Simon as they nurture this new group.

Monday

Pray for all the planning and preparation for our Christmas services. Pray that the message of hope and reconciliation in the birth of our Saviour will pierce the cynicism and despondency that casts a shadow over so many lives today. There will be so many people involved in these services; let’s pray for all who have any part to play. We have so much talent, musical, technical, artistic etc.. Let’s pray that all will be inspired by the Lord’s Holy Spirit to work together for His glory to tell Burscough the good news of Jesus.

Tuesday

Please remember Simon, Clare and the boys in your prayers. This is a very unsettling time for them after their disappointment. Let’s show them how much we love and want to support them at this time. Thank God for the tremendous work that Simon is doing for us during the interregnum, and ask the Lord to comfort them and give them His peace in the knowledge that His hand is upon them now and forever.

Wednesday

Now that a decision has been made about our new vicar, continue to pray for unity within our fellowship. Ask the Lord to hold us steady, to love and work together to fulfil His mission in our church and in the community. Thank Him for all He has accomplished, for the many blessings that have been poured out upon us at St John’s over recent years, and pray that we may continue looking only to Him for our future.

Thursday

Roy Lewis has decided to retire as reader. Thank God for Roy & Jean and the loyal faithful service they have given to us over many years, providing us with sound gospel teaching. Pray that they will be richly blessed in their retirement, knowing the peace and contentment of lives lived in service to our Lord.

Friday

Let’s pray for our new vicar, Richard and his family who are now coming to terms with moving from a familiar fellowship into ours at St John’s. Pray that this will be a blessed move for them and for us. Pray that we will all welcome and support this family and faithfully uphold them in prayer as we all begin a new phase in our Christian walk.

Saturday

Give thanks for the wonderful service led by our youth on 25th November which focussed on strong and weak foundations, and also for a full church to support them. Thank God for their leaders who are providing them with the foundations of their faith. Pray for all the services involving our groups at Christmas, especially the All Stars nativity and the babies and toddlers Crib service. Pray again for a full church so that all who come may have the opportunity to hear Christ’s message.
