This is the Prayer Letter for January. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Pray about the invitations that will be going out this month for the new basics course starting in February. Pray that we all will realise the importance of inviting people; this course has been life changing for so many. Thank God for coming into your life and ask Him to make you bold so that someone else may find Jesus.
Monday
Pray for Jenny Cosslett who will be leading a pastoral care course starting at the end of January. Pray that new people will be moved to discover this ministry, and that the many who are already involved will benefit from this teaching. Pray for the ongoing pastoral work in our parish showing Jesus’ love and concern for the sick, housebound and the bereaved. The need is great; pray for more workers to bring warmth and love to broken spirits.
Tuesday
Our theme text this year is Hebrews 12:1-3. Ask the Lord by His Holy Spirit, to fill our hearts and minds with a longing to know Him more and more, so that we will readily promote Him by our words and deeds, and bring honour to His name.
Wednesday
Please pray for the PAT and PCC teams and thank God for their willingness to take on the responsibilities of decision making at St John’s. There are some serious issues to be tackled over the next few months; pray for wisdom from above and unity of spirit and purpose as they lead our church into 2008.
Thursday
Continue to pray for Richard and his family as they prepare to come to us in the near future. Pray for his congregation as they, like us, are facing big changes. May we all trust in the Lord our God, who knows the future and will supply all our needs if we look only to Him. Let’s pray with confidence that He will guide us and show us the way forward.
Friday
27th January is a Guest service at St John’s; Trevor Hodson will be speaking to us. Pray that his message will inspire us and will be thought provoking for those we invite – perhaps enough for them to consider going on the basics course. Pray too for Andy Patching who will be with us on that day from the Isubilo Project in Zambia. Pray for safety for him whilst travelling, and that he brings good and exciting news about our “Aids” mission.
Saturday
Continue to pray for Al and Anne’s group as they move forward from last year’s basics course. Thank God for the fellowship they now share and the closeness that is steadily being built up, and ask Him by His Holy Spirit to encourage these new Christians into a closer walk with him so that faith is deepened and secured against hard times.
