Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for October.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

These are important times for Richard and his family; keep on praying for them as they get to know us and the parish. Pray that that they will all soon feel very much at home here and that Richard will be able to get on with all the plans that our Lord is placing on his heart for our village. Pray for lots of new and warm relationships within the churches, schools and other organisations so that working to build God’s kingdom here can be made easier.

Monday

Keep on praying for Elaine, Eileen and Jayne as they continue their theological training. Pray also for their families, for loving prayerful support, and that the Holy Spirit will continue to indwell and encourage through the demanding as well as the exciting times. Pray too for Richard Gedge, now entering his last year of training for ministry, who will shortly be looking for a curacy. Pray that the Lord will uphold this lovely family and steer them to just the right place where He can use them to fulfil His purposes.

Tuesday

A new basics course is starting on 1st October. Thank God for His Spirit who has done such wonderful things in the lives of so many who have taken part in previous courses. Pray now for new seekers, that their hearts and minds will be open to His Spirit inviting them on an exciting journey of faith. Pray for a good mix of people who will experience the warmth of Christian fellowship and soon feel comfortable with one another. Pray that all leaders and helpers will prayerfully prepare themselves.

Wednesday

Our Harvest service is on 12th October. Pray that our Lord will lay a spirit of compassion on our hearts for those whose harvest has been poor, and that we will submit to Him and He will open our pockets and help us to give generously to Tearfund for their work in Burkina Faso. Thank Him for the privilege of being able to give to our brothers and sisters in need, and for providing a full storehouse for our own needs.

Thursday

There will be Harvest services for our 3 primary schools in church on10th October. Thank God for the cooperation and warmth that exists between church and schools, and for the generosity that our schools traditionally extend at harvest time. Pray for the children, that they will continue to consider the needs of others as they grow into young adults, and thank God for the teachers who encourage them in this way.

Friday

On the 19th October Noel Proctor will be speaking to us at the 10.30 service. Pray for him, that he may be Spirit led, but also that our Lord will use him to move and challenge us to be more like Him in our attitudes and thoughts.

Saturday

Continue to pray that each one of us will be drawn closer to Jesus through the series on the Beatitudes; that He will challenge our comfortable lives and help us to see that we so often do not apply His values to our experiences. Pray for a powerful movement of His transforming Spirit that will place Jesus and His ways at the centre of all we do, so that our lives will speak of Him to those around us.
