This is the Prayer Letter for November. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Duncan and Mark Aspinall have recently visited Belarus to take gifts to the church in Borisov and to make arrangements for the next project to help the orphaned children there. Pray that the money will be used wisely to benefit these needy children, and continue to pray for Pastor Sergei and his church who play a pivotal role in our mission work in Belarus. Thank God for Duncan and Mark and others led to go in the Lord’s name to minister to the needy overseas.
Monday
Continue to pray for our project in Isubilo, Zambia. An important selection process is taking place there to find the right person to be mother to the AIDS orphans who will live in the house we have provided. Ask the Lord to give wisdom for finding the lady who will be best able to love and care for these children. Pray for health, healing and plenty of love for them all in their new home.
Tuesday
Continue to pray for the people on the new basics course; pray that the Lord’s grace will reach out to them and draw them to Him. They will be invited to pray the prayer of commitment on the 11th November. Let’s pray that this prayer will mark a huge turning point in the lives of many, and pray that they will be encouraged to move on to the discipleship course.
Wednesday
This year’s Remembrance Day service will take place on 9th November at the local cenotaph and afterwards in church. Please pray for Richard as he reaches out to many in our community who are not regular worshippers. This is an important opportunity to engage with people at, what for some, will be an emotional time. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be active through Richard in revealing the Lord’s healing, love, mercy and forgiveness for all.
Thursday
Preparations for Christmas 2008 are under way, but many people will be feeling the effects of the global financial crisis. Let’s pray that this Christmas will therefore provide the opportunity for people to dispense with the usual materialism and instead be more ready to join in the celebration of our Saviour’s birth, the coming of light to the world. Pray that through our ministry His light will burn brightly. Pray for Richard and his team, and for all of us, that everything will be done to His glory. This is a very busy time for ministers and staff; pray for health and strength for them all, for effective outreach and changed lives.
Friday
On 29th November (Saturday) between 1300 and 1600hrs there is to be an outreach event at St John’s to which the whole community is invited. The church will be decorated for Christmas and there will be refreshments and various activities for children. Pray for this event and for everyone who will be involved in the preparations; pray that the people of Burscough will feel moved to come and join our church fellowship and pray that we may be warm and welcoming.
Saturday
Please pray for Simon Patton and Jo Sutton in their work with the older teenagers; thank God for them and ask Him to encourage and bless them in the work they do in His name. Pray for our teenagers who are starting to look for university places; this can be an anxious time for them; ask the Lord to give them wisdom as they make their choices. Give thanks for the 0-5’s service last month, particularly for the good response from the mothers, and pray that we might see them all in church with the children over the Christmas period.
