This is the Prayer Letter for February. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Remember Sarah Holman who is leading the confirmation course for possibly 8 or 9 young people. Pray that the Lord will rule and guide and they will respond eagerly as they go deeper with Him, discovering Jesus our lifelong friend and redeemer, and pray that Sarah will know the joy of doing the Lord’s will.
Monday
A housegroup leaders meeting is to be held on 10th February. Thank God for all who faithfully prepare and lead our housegroups. This is an ongoing commitment from people who, in the main, are working full time. Ask the Lord to bless them for the work they are doing in His name and pray that housegroup members will show Christian love and appreciation for their group leaders. Pray for deeper fellowship for all members as they meet together to share in all that the Lord brings to those who love Him.
Tuesday
The shoppers service on Tuesday mornings at 10.30 has reached out to so many in our community and continues to grow. Thank God for this initiative and for Brian who faithfully leads week by week. Ask the Lord to continue to bless his ministry so that he will be encouraged, and pray that as people gather in Jesus’ name, their hearts and lives will be touched by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
Wednesday
Pray for Richard and Joanna as they take a service in church for mums and toddlers on 11th February at 10.30. Ask the Lord to be with them by His Spirit to reach out to these mums and to draw them closer to Himself. This is important work, encouraging these parents in the Lord so that the children may be brought up to know and love Him. Thank God for all the lay leaders and their commitment to this ministry to parents, and thank Him for the growth in numbers over recent months.
Thursday
On Wednesday evenings Simon is leading the M2 course for people who have recently completed the basics course. Pray that this group will be ready to move on in their new found faith; they have been asking many questions over the last few weeks. Pray for Simon and any other helpers as they nurture them and encourage them in spiritual maturity. Thank God that He continues to call people to Himself and that He uses us all in spite of our weaknesses.
Friday
Joanna, Sarah and several other helpers are taking thirty nine 11-18 year olds to Bala for a weekend in the middle of February. Pray for safety as they all travel and take part in the various activities and pray that these children will grow in faith and spiritual maturity, in Christian love and fellowship, as they spend time away together. Pray for plenty of fun and very happy memories for them all. Pray hard that a new male leader will be found for this group of youngsters, someone the children can look up to, someone with a deep love for the Lord and His children.
Saturday
Please pray for Simon, Clare, Sam and Joel now that Simon’s appointment to Parbold and Appley Bridge has been confirmed. Thank God for this lovely family and their ministry to us, and ask the Lord to be very near to them as they prepare to move and start a new ministry to new people. Thank Him also that He has found a place nearby so that Clare can continue her own very special ministry in Skelmersdale, and pray that the people in Simon’s new parish will take this dear family to their hearts.
