This is the Prayer Letter for March. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
We say goodbye to Simon, Clare, Sam and Joel on 29th March. Pray for them, asking the Lord to richly bless them in their new ministry at Parbold and Appley Bridge. Pray that their house move will go well and they will settle down quickly in their new home; pray particularly for Clare in this respect as she finds change difficult. Thank God for Simon’s special ministry to us over the last 5 years, for his eagerness and enthusiasm, and pray that his new congregation will be warm and welcoming, ready to support him in all he wants to do for the Lord.
Monday
Joanna and Richard will be hosting a marriage preparation day on 14th March, for couples intending to be married at St John’s this year. Pray for them as they minister to these couples contemplating spending the rest of their lives together; pray that through them, the Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and that He will deepen their understanding of love and commitment. Pray for an atmosphere of openness and warmth as they all meet together.
Tuesday
Pray that we may all make our own special journey through Lent to Easter, walking with Jesus as He sets out to redeem each one of us, knowing our own unworthiness, but knowing also His exceeding grace. Pray that through our new sermon series we will all be brought into a closer walk with Him. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s power for those who teach and lead at this important time of year.
Wednesday
Women’s World Day of Prayer takes place on Friday 6th march at St John’s and has been prepared this year by Christian women of Papua New Guinea. Pray for this service when millions of women all over the world share in prayers of faith. The first service will begin at sunrise in Tonga and travel around the world until the sun sets in Samoa. This is a wonderful opportunity for us too, to worship in communion with our sisters in Christ from the other St John’s and the Methodist church. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s powerful presence as we come together, and pray for Jo Jones, Richard’s wife, who will be speaking to us.
Thursday
Thank God for the wonderful weekend that our young people had in Bala. Pray for them, that what they learned and experienced will stay in their hearts and not be snatched away from them. Please continue to pray for new leaders, especially young men, to help with the ministry to our youngsters; this is such important work and requires special people, people who know and love the Lord and have a special love for children.
Friday
Thank God for the continuing ministry at Hoscar and Crabtree, and for all who faithfully serve in our mission churches. There are some building issues currently which need to be addressed. Pray for wisdom and the Lord’s enabling as these items are pursued.
Saturday
Thank God for all who serve in the music ministry, including the technicians whose skills play a very necessary part. There are many people serving in this way and they are having a Contemporary Worship Training Day on March 7th, hosted by Neil Smith. Ask the Lord to bless this day and to reveal new things that can be used to enhance our worship at St John’s so that we will all benefit. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on all who take part.
