This is the Prayer Letter for April. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Several Belarussian children with special needs will be visiting the area between 1st and 19th April. Please pray for these children and any adults who will accompany them. Pray for God’s blessing on the visit - for a significant improvement in their health as a result of breathing clear air and eating uncontaminated food. Pray that they will adjust quickly to their new surroundings and be able to enjoy the various trips and activities. Pray that all requirements will be forthcoming, especially transport for the trips. Thank God for the organisation and helpers who facilitate these visits. Some of our young people will be spending the day with the children at Shirdley Hill, Scarisbrick on 15th April. Thank God for them and ask the Lord to fill them with compassion and love as they interact with these needy children.
Monday
Pray for all our Easter services, starting on 7th April with the Easter shoppers’ service and ending on 12th April at Crabtree Mission with Holy Communion. Pray that those who come will marvel at the message of the Easter story and that many will come to know that, not only is the gospel wonderful sounding news, but is also true and therefore life-changing. Pray that all who speak and lead, or have any part to play will prepare themselves prayerfully so that the Holy Spirit can do His work in our hearts. Pray especially for the baptisms of Robert Lea (18), Kathy Wilcock and Annie Wordley.
Tuesday
Richard and Phil Marshall (snr) are leading four 90 min sessions for enquirers starting on April 20th, looking at "Who is Jesus?". These will be held in informal surroundings with free discussion as well as short teaching periods. Pray that these new seekers will be at ease and comfortable with one another, able to openly express their doubts and questions. Pray for a good response and lively interaction as well as the Holy Spirit’s prompting. Pray for Richard and Phil as they reach out with His love.
Wednesday
The three primary schools will be in church before breaking up for the Easter holiday on Friday 3rd April. This is a lovely opportunity to contact our village children and their teachers. Thank God that we have this link with the schools and pray that, with the Lord’s blessing these will be strengthened. Pray for Richard as he ministers, asking the Lord to equip him to touch the hearts of these little ones with Jesus’ love.
Thursday
The Parish AGM will be held on 28th April. Pray for a good attendance at this important meeting for our church when new wardens and some new PCC members will be elected. Pray for lively interest as we hear the Lord’s direction for our church after much prayer. Pray for enthusiasm and commitment to the Lord’s work in our village.
Friday
Simon will be licensed at Parbold church on Wednesday 29th April with refreshments to follow at Appley Bridge. Thank God for Simon, Clare Sam and Joel, for everything the Lord has done through them in our church. Pray for a warm reception for them from their new flock and a fruitful ministry in their new situation.
Saturday
The All Stars young people will be spending a day together at Cliffs Barn on 25th April for various activities, eating together and looking at prayer. Pray for them and their leaders, asking the Lord to build up their faith as they pray and fellowship together; pray also for good life-long friendships and plenty of fun and laughter. Thank God for the leaders who share the responsibility for them.
