This is the Prayer Letter for July / August. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
The PCC and Housegroup leaders will both be meeting during July. Thank God for those who are willing to serve in this way, giving up time in their busy schedules to help with the business of making decisions and providing for others in their groups. Thank Him for their commitment and industry, and pray that more people will be prepared to come forward to help bring about God’s kingdom here in Burscough. The Lord expects much from us so that He may enable much by us.
Monday
The mission to Paraguay continues during July and August with members from St John’s joining other churches from the UK on various projects to help the poorest people in that land. Ask the Lord to graciously bless David and his team and all they are seeking to do in His name; pray for success in all the projects, and a blossoming of relationships with the people there as they see the Lord’s provision and purpose through His servants.
Tuesday
On the 12th July our youth team will be leading morning worship. Thank God for them and ask Him to guide them as they prepare; this is the first time they will have ministered to us at 10.30 and no doubt they will be nervous so pray for encouraging support from our congregation. May we all be open to what the Lord is saying through them. We are so blessed to have these young ones in our midst – lift them up before Him for His blessing and equipping.
Wednesday
July 10th is Founders Day service at St John’s for Priory School and the end of year service will also be in July for the 3 primary schools. Pray for safety for the children during the summer holidays and for happy family times. Pray also for teachers as they take a well earned rest from the rigours of school life. Ask the Lord to continue to prosper St John’s good connection with all the schools in our village, and pray for even more outreach, especially to Priory, in the coming months. Pray for courage to bring the light of Christ into our schools so that the children may come to know Him and His Holy Spirit’s enabling in their lives.
Thursday
Richard and a lay team will be hosting a Baptism preparation in church for 4 families and Godparents on15th July. This is a new initiative to explain the significance of the baptism service. Please ask the Lord to send His Holy Spirit to open the hearts and minds of these people so that the blessings of baptism may be fully realised and appreciated when they bring along their little ones before the Lord. Thank God for the continual flow of children for baptism at St John’s.
Friday
There are two weddings scheduled during July and August at St John’s. Let’s pray for these couples as they begin their lives together. Ask the Lord not only to bless their special day of celebration, but also to be with them down the years in the good times and the difficulties. Pray that they will not take their vows lightly but reverently, submitting their lives together to Him for His blessing and comfort, His guidance and security.
Saturday
Ian and Nicky Greenwood and their young family will join us in July. Let’s thank God for them, for their willingness to come with us to serve this community. Pray that the Lord will graciously bless Ian’s ministry here and that his ministry will be a delight and blessing to many. Pray that the family will soon feel settled and comfortable and that together we can achieve great things for our Lord.
