This is the Prayer Letter for July / August. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Merseyfest - 14 - 21st August. At the present time there is a need for stewards and security people to come forward to help; please pray that these essential people can be found - anyone can help in this work. Pray that great things will happen during this time, both in our communities and in the lives of individuals as people come together, giving time and effort to make a difference; pray that serving in the Lord's name will encourage many in other forms of mission work and have a lasting impact on young lives. Pray for lots of fun, friendship and spiritual growth, and pray for a rousing celebration to God's glory at the closing concerts.
Monday
Pray for our church families as they go to the New Wine Christian Conferences at Harrogate and Shepton Mallet at the beginning of August. Pray that this will be a tremendous time of fellowship and sharing, of fun and relaxation, and of drawing nearer to our Lord through worship and praise. Pray for all leaders and speakers, that they will be Spirit-filled, trusting Him to enable them in their tasks. Pray that this will be a time of growth and commitment for many.
Tuesday
Pray for our 6:30 services which are looking at the book of Philippians throughout the summer months. This is such an encourging book; let's pray that we will all be encouraged in our walk with the Lord, learning to trust in Him more and more, abounding in His love, and sharing that love in our homes, in the workplace, and with all who cross our paths. Pray that the leaders and preachers will be filled with the Holy Spirit to enthuse us and send us out in joy.
Wednesday
The Priory High Founders day service will be held on 15th July in church. Thank God for the continued link with the school and ask for His blessing on this service. Pray for good, strong, meaningful contact with the headteacher and staff, and pray the the Lord will strengthen this bond. Pray for all the families represented, and that each young person who hears the word of God will be led by His Holy Spirit to respond positively in thought, word and deed. There are so many demands on teenagers; we need to earnestly pray for them, their homes and relationships.
Thursday
Project Paraguay - 3rd - 29th August. People from Ireland and other parts of the UK have already arrived in Paraguay (including David Orritt), to set up and continue various projects to help poor communities there. Pray for each one as they give time and energy, serving the Lord with all their hearts, to show love and concern for those in need. Ask for the Lord's blessing on all the work proceeding in His name; pray for cooperation between individuals and local groups so that all will be united in the bond of peace. Ask that the work may proceed steadily, that good, strong friendships will be formed, and many blessings given and received. Pray for safety and good health, that God will be glorified, and that there will be a rish harvest as a result of the labours done here.
Friday
Our 10:30 Summer Season is called Faith in Films. Pray that this series will have real appeal to families, and that the film clips will provide an acceptable vehicle for the Lord's teachings. Pray for receptive hearts and minds, and remember to encourage our leaders as they seek to bring our children and families closer to God. Pray too, for the leaders of the children's groups as they take a well earned rest from their labours of love. Thank God for their didication and ask Him to preserve, protect, and keep them in His hand.
Saturday
Belarus Mission - 14th - 28th Auguest. Pray for our team as they join others in their task to refurbish Peter House. Thank God for their commitment and didication and ask that nothing will prevent this work of love going forward. Pray against any local opposition; ask the Lord to surround this project with his angels, to protect and to enable the work to proceed. Pray for gladness of hearts as they work together, and pray for the children and staff, that they will see the love and power of our Lord manifested in their lives.
