Monthly Prayer Letter

Go to previous prayer letter:

This is the Prayer Letter for May.  Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month.  The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.

Sunday

Thank God for Ian our curate and his family, for their ministry to us and their enthusiasm for making Christ known. Pray particularly for Ian’s ministry to the under 40’s men in our congregation and the wider outreach that ensues from it. This is important mission work with implications for future development of St John’s ministry in Burscough. Thank God for Ian’s vision and application.

Monday

At the annual parish meeting last month we were all made aware of the resources needed to further the work of Christ in Burscough. Pray that there will be a generous response in willingness to serve our community and in financial support for the work of the church. Pray particularly that the sterling work among the children and youth may go from strength to strength. Give thanks to our Lord for all who serve in this ministry and for His goodness, support and enabling in the past.

Tuesday

The Explore course will start this month after a brief introductory session in April, and the invitation is given to anyone wanting to know about the Christian faith. Please pray for Richard as he opens Luke’s gospel: pray that this precious word will reach out with the Lord’s Holy Spirit and touch the hearts and minds of true seekers, dispelling false rumours and misconceptions. Christ says to all “Come –“: pray that some will.

Wednesday

As the summer months come we are all invited to get together to share Christian fellowship and fun outdoors. These are wonderful opportunities, especially for families, to make new friends and draw closer to known ones, all in a safe Christian environment. Ask the Lord to richly bless these occasions and perhaps move us to invite friends and relations along to share in our enjoyment of God’s creation.

Thursday

Continue to pray for those attending confirmation classes: Adam, Amy, Chris, Genevieve and Lauren, who are under Sarah’s tuition. This group of young people are now really bonding as they learn about Jesus together. Pray that their friendships will prosper and grow and that the Lord Jesus will continue to have His way in their lives. Thank God for Sarah and her enthusiasm for leading and great love for Christ and her little flock. Pray also for Karen Taylor, as she prepares to publicly commit her life to Christ. So far she is the only adult but is nonetheless undeterred. Ask the Lord to mightily bless her and her family and all the families of the confirmees, especially on their special day at Liverpool Cathedral on 7th June.

Friday

Thank God for a successful and Spirit led meeting at the APM last month. Pray for all those called to serve in the various offices. Richard spoke movingly of the need to be Christ’s servants. Pray for more servants to help in the work in the church and community as we seek to do His will. Pray particularly as a church fellowship we will be more Christlike in our attitudes towards one another, for peace and unity within so that our witness without will be sound. Pray diligently for all difficult relationships within our church that you are aware of.

Saturday

Thank God for the continued ministry to Belarus. Thank Him for all those whose hearts are moved by love to serve the needy there, especially the orphans and disabled children of that land. Pray that the Lord will prosper their commitment and that as a church we will readily support them in prayer and finances. Continue to pray for David and his partners in mission to Paraguay and remember also Liz and Andrew and their family in Tanzania. Thank God for all their courage in answering His call.
