This is the Prayer Letter for June. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Continue to pray for Adam, Amy, Chris, Genevieve and Lauren, our young people who are being confirmed on 7th June. Ask the Lord to bless them with His Holy Spirit as they make their public commitment to follow Him. Pray too for Karen as she too gives her life to Christ. May this be a wonderful day of rejoicing for our confirmees and their families and friends, and keep us faithful in prayer for them as they continue in their new life with Jesus. Pray particularly for Karen who intends to give her personal testimony in church on 20th June, when they all take their first Holy Communion.
Monday
Pray for Richard in his new role as spiritual chaplain to the new West Lancs Mayor, Cllr John Baldock. Pray that this will prove to be a fruitful liaison, not just with the Mayor but also with other members of the council. Ask the Lord to open up pathways through this new link between church and community, so that His ways may become known. Pray also for an outpouring of His Spirit at the Civic Service on 27th June.
Tuesday
On 9th June there will be another healing service in church. Pray for all who will come, that as they wait on the Lord they may be touched and blessed, and made whole. Pray that people will come in faith and expectation, knowing that He loves and cares for all. Please also cover our prayer meeting “Engage” when we meet on 28th June.
Wednesday
Thank God for all who faithfully lead our house groups and provide hospitality; praise God for the wonderful ministry in which so many of us have shared through these groups over the years. We have been truly blessed so thank Him. Pray for deeper commitment and understanding as we study the book of Acts and realise afresh how we are to follow in the footsteps of the first disciples, and for a new revelation of Jesus as we look at His “I am” sayings.
Thursday
Ian is to be priested on June 13th; this is a special day for him and his family. Pray for them all, asking the Lord to richly bless them on that day and in their future ministry with us and beyond. Pray also for Elaine who will be ordained at the cathedral on 4th July. Thank God for her lovely ministry to us at St john’s before and during her training, and ask the Lord to be with her in her new calling as curate and pioneer minister at St Mary’s Wavertree. Thank God for the many people He has called from our church.
Friday
Thank God for all who serve on our Baptism Preparation team. This seems to be a growing ministry; there are now baptisms booked through to October. Pray that the positive responses we have had from parents to the new format will continue and that through our prayers and the love and commitment of the parents and Godparents, these children will come to know Jesus as Lord.
Saturday
Please keep the ministry in our schools in you prayers. This outreach is of major importance in our community. Pray for a deeper and closer engagement with head
teachers and staff, that confidence and trust may grow and the children may be encouraged to know Jesus as their friend and Saviour.
