This is the Prayer Letter for February. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
Continue to pray for the new Christian Basics course. Pray that the group will soon feel the warmth of Christian fellowship and knit together quickly; pray that each new member will be hungry to know God and that the Holy Spirit will equip Richard and Helen Gedge and Karen Birch, with His grace and wisdom as they lead.
Monday
Ask the Lord to richly bless all the preparations for Crabtree Mission Centenary celebrations. Thank God for the people who lead there and who work so hard all the time to keep the light burning. Remind the Lord of their great faithfulness and dedication to bringing His word to that part of Burscough. They have a special gift for hospitality; give thanks.
Tuesday
During the weekend 25-27th February, Neil and Margaret Short, Jean and David Orritt, and Beverley and Dave Hope will be helping to lead a mission at Rod Patterson’s church in Charleton Kings near Cheltenham. Pray for really good things to happen – particularly that one or two local people will be really touched by the Spirit of God and grow into key people in the church. Pray for young families to be brought in and ask the Lord, by His Holy Spirit, to bless all activity done in His name. Pray that their church will be stirred up and enthused for mission and service, and that our folks will feel blessed as they work alongside others.
Wednesday
Our church is looking for people with time and enthusiasm to lead in various key areas. Please pray for someone to coordinate the M3 (ministry) activity, so that all the talents of all the people within our fellowship can be harnessed and used at the appropriate times. We have an abundance of skills, but most of the time they are underused. Pray for this special person to come forward.
Thursday
Pray for the weekend away for JC’s (11-14s) 18th-20th February. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s influence on leaders and young people, that this special time will be a real spiritual highlight for all. Ask the Lord to lead and guide in all aspects of travel and relationships. Commit each one to the Lord’s care.
Friday
Keep remembering all our leaders in your prayers; pray that they and their homes and families may be under the Lord’s protection at all times, and pray that they may not become weary in doing good. Remember Tom especially at this time, as he must be feeling bereft of fellowship; ask the Lord to strengthen his spirit so that he does not become cast down, and pray for Dot as she constantly visits and encourages him in his discomfort. Pray for a good recovery and that the Lord will use this time of sickness for His glory. Thank the Lord for all His goodness to us in the ministry at St John’s.
Saturday
Now that we have completed the M5 course, pray that our lives will continue to reflect the love of Jesus more and more, and that He will increase and we will decrease and thereby glorify Him:
In much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in sleeplessness, in fastings; by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. 2 Cor 6. 4-10
