This is the Prayer Letter for April. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
On the 10th April the Guides and Brownies will be taking part in our family service. Pray for their leaders and for the input of these young ones, that this initiative will encourage closer ties with St John’s and bring them nearer to Jesus. Let’s pray too, for the other uniformed organisations and the connection, not just with St John’s, but with Jesus. Pray that their time with us will be happy and fulfilling.
Monday
Pray for Neil as he speaks at the school of leadership in the Liverpool diocese on 12th April. Pray that he will be led by God’s Holy Spirit as he encourages others to grow their churches. Pray for open ears and hearts, enthusiasm, and an eagerness to embrace new ways to bring about God’s kingdom in the churches of our diocese. This is really important work that Neil is doing for the Lord; ask the Lord to bless it.
Tuesday
There is to be a meeting in Bolton on the 16th April for the NW branch of SAMS. Ask the Lord to richly bless this meeting and all who will attend, including our own Paraguay mission team. Thank God for these and all others who go out to selflessly serve in the name of our Lord. May they all have a blessed time together, as they plan for their 2005 project. Pray for harmony in spirit and purpose.
Wednesday
On the 23rd April, St John’s will open for the first “Saturday at 6” service. Pray that this initiative will bear fruit and will fulfil a need within our community. Ask the Lord to show us clearly if this is a way forward for Burscough. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s leading for all who minister, and pray that all who come to this and subsequent services, will meet with the risen Lord.
Thursday
Our services on 24th April will focus on prayer; pray for Simon as he speaks at 10.30, and for Margaret Lyons at 6.30, that they will move us all to spend more time with our Lord in prayer and intercession. Thank God for them both, and ask for His Holy Spirit’s inspiration as they speak to us.
Friday
As the prayer box is installed at the church gates, pray that it will be a great influence on our community and that they will seize the opportunity for prayer for their concerns, and put their trust in our Lord to help them. Pray that this will be a wonderful outreach to all who pass by.
Saturday
Let’s thank God for the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, which we have recently celebrated. Pray that we may all be determined to love Him and follow Him in the power of His Holy Spirit. Thank God for all the preparations, which made the Easter day so wonderful; for the many people who took part in the services and in making the church and its environs so attractive and welcoming. Pray that hearts and minds were changed and new lives begun this Eastertime.
