This is the Prayer Letter for May. Please use this list to target praying in your group over the next month. The prayer requests focus on quality rather than quantity.
Sunday
During May, Simon, Jayne, and Ann Holcroft (from Oaks), are going to Saddleback Church to a Purpose Driven conference. Pray for their safety whilst travelling, and that their hearts and minds will be wide open to what the Lord is saying to them. Pray that they will return full of enthusiasm and eager to spread their news. Ask the Holy Spirit to oversee everything that is on offer at Saddleback.
Monday
Following the AGM, thank God for enabling us to be so generous in His service. Thank Him particularly that we have been able to help Oaks in their quest to purchase a building to be used for God’s glory in the community of Tanhouse. Pray that our gift will be used wisely, leading many to be called as children of God.
Tuesday
Remember the confirmees in your prayers, both adults and children. Thank God that they have made this huge commitment, and ask the Lord to protect them as they start out on their journey of faith. Pray that we too, will take seriously, our duty to encourage and nurture them, loving them and keeping them in prayer. Thank God that more are being added to His church daily. Pray especially for the teenagers, swimming against the tide in their world.
Wednesday
A new housegroup study series on worship will start this month, and the morning and evening services will feature talks on this subject. Pray that, little by little, we are learning what the Lord requires of us in our worship; pray that we will be open to Him and less aware of ourselves. Pray that this series will inspire us, and bring us closer to Jesus.
Thursday
Remember all the children’s groups and their leaders. This work is really being blessed by God thank to the faithful commitment of the leaders, but they need our faithful prayers. Pray for good, strong links with the schools, and that they may be strengthened year on year. Pray for all teaching staff, that they may know Jesus as their Saviour. Pray particularly for the 2 teachers at St John’s who have been moved by their experiences during their trip to Lusaka recently, that they may want to do more to promote awareness of the poor of the world and engage our children in mission.
Friday
The annual remembrance and thanking service is to take place on the 8th May. Pray for all those who will come, that they will be touched by the love of Jesus and feel His presence. Pray that they may be comforted by being with others who share similar burdens, and that their hearts will be open to the peace of God. There is always a good response to the invitations, but pray for those who may be unsure, and those who feel unable to come.
Saturday
Give thanks for the increase in worshippers at our lionk church in Chile. Pray for all the leaders there, that they will be able to cope with the numbers; pray also for their health. Pray especially for the children, that they will grow up secure in the love of our Lord. Pray that we may be able to help them again in their need of accommodation for the increased numbers. Thank God, that through them, we are encouraged in our mission work.
